Welcome to the Clan Colt you should be proud to wear this uniform as it is the oldest one around since MechWarrior2:Mercenaires to MechWarrior3 as Clan Cheetah and now for MechWarrior4 we take the name Clan Hell's Horses to bring back the fear we instilled in to people when we used the same name for Net BattleTech 3060 for MW2:Mercenaries. This is our field manual to help direct you in the conduct of the Clan.
The following information will guide you through your training as a Colt and as a productive member of the Clan some of the following information you will be asked by others not of our Clan thus knowing it is easier then saying you can find it on the home page.
| 2:00 PM | Pacific (PST) |
| 3:00 PM | Mountain |
| 4:00 PM | Central |
| 5:00 PM | Eastern (EST) |
| 10:00 PM | Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) |
| 11:00 PM | Saturday Night CET |
| 6:00 AM | Sunday Morning Perth Time |
| 8:00 AM | Sunday Morning Sydney Time |
Remember that most of the countries are using the daylight saving time (DST), so when in many countries you will have DST, then in Australia it is Winter, so the meeting time will be one hour earlier! We are working on a solution to set up up meetings at several times, so it is easy for every member to attend a meeting.
Now go out and get some practice in remember practice will not kill you, it is the enemy that will do it for you the practice makes sure you either die the good death or take them out before they get you.
Each and every Warrior in the Clan needs to have the current version of MechWarrior4: Mercenaries including the Mechpak 2.1a from MekTek, the Hardcore-mod for the league and the Clan `Mech Pack and Inner Sphere `Mech Pack are not required at this time as Mercenaries has built in support for the `Mechs in it. But the Keshik needs to know if you do not have them, as if we get to a league drop that has `Mechs from either Pack and you do not have it installed you are unable to drop in that `Mech. Also make sure to have Zone stats tracking enabled, this helps us figure out how well you are doing on open servers to see if you will need more or less training.
Contacting people in the Clan is quite simple with the program ICQ this is a messaging client, that everyone in the Clan uses. If you are a current user of AIM, MSN or similar and do not with to install yet another of these then go download Trillian this program is an "all in one" style program. It will allow you to use all current chat clients with only one interface and one icon in the system tray.
You will also need a program to access IRC (internet relay chat) with, if you do not already have a client then download mIRC there is a tutorial on how to connect to our channel on the website. The service provider for IRC is Enter The Game, it will show up as Enterthegame: Random Server under the mIRC options our channel is #hells_horses. If you can not get connected even using the tutorial then email Dark DeLaurel with the problems you are having.

| Colt CHH0 |
|
| A Colt cannot sponsor anyone else. Colts are Inactive Warriors devoted to Training in order to achieve Active MechWarrior status. Every Colt has to obey the duty of training (see below). | |
| MechWarrior CHH1 |
|
| A MechWarrior is the lowest ranking warrior in a Front Line Star. A MechWarrior may (and is encouraged) to sponsor three recruits at a time. There are four MechWarrior's and one Officer per Star. (25 Points or 5 `Mechs). | |
| 1st. MechWarrior CHH2 |
|
| This rank is given to a MechWarrior who has accumulated over 200 points of honour. | |
| Elite MechWarrior CHH3 |
|
| This rank is given to any 1st. MechWarrior who has accumulated over 300 points of honour. An Elite MechWarrior may also challenge any Star Commander to his position, as long as his honour points and the number of drops are higher than the Officer he is challenging. | |
| Lt. Star Commander CHH4 |
|
| This rank is given to any Elite MechWarrior who has accumulated over 400 points of honour. A Lt. Star Commander may also challenge any Star Commander to his position, as long as his honour points are higher than the Officer he is challenging. *NOTE: This rank is used to show achievement when a Star Commander slot may not be open or is not desired, but the MechWarrior is a very active member. Every Lt. Starcommander shall fulfill the duties of the Starcommander while she/he is abcent. | |
| Star Commander CHH5 |
|
| A Star Commander commands the star he is in. He answers directly to a Star Captain and may challenge any of these Officers to his/her position when he gains more honour and number of drops than the lowest ranking Star Captain. To Qualify for this position, you must have been dropped 50 times in a minimum of 30 different battles and an overall good performance there. Every Star Commander has to choose a name for her/his star, if the star still has no name. Every three month the Star Commander has to challenge another star for a Trial of Honour (team). If she/he will forget this duty the second time then the whole star loses 50 honour points [This is waived for Stars that are still being filled out Example your Star has only yourself and 2 Warriors]. Moreover she/he has to make sure that their star will offer a weekly practice according to their time zone. | |
| Star Captain CHH6 |
|
| A Star Captain leads a Binary of `Mechs, and also acts as the Star Commander for one of his stars. Any Star Captain may challenge any Star Colonel for his position when he/she gains more honour and drops than the lowest ranked Star Colonel. To Qualify for this position, you must have been dropped 80 times in a minimum of 60 different battles and an overall good performance there. The Star Captain has to support the practice sessions of the stars that they command, that means that she/he has secured that the Practice dates always filled with warriors. | |
| Star Colonel CHH7 |
|
| A Star Colonel commands 2 Binaries, and also acts as Star Captain for his Binary. They may challenge the Galaxy Commander only if they have over 600 honour points and it is agreed upon by the Khan and saKhan. To Qualify for this position, you must have been dropped 120 times in a minimum of 80 different battles and an overall good performance there. Our Current Star Colonel is Deathjoker Mitchell. | |
| Galaxy Commander CHH8 |
|
| A Galaxy Commander is in charge of all Military Units under their command at any given time, and also acts as a Star Colonel over the Units closest to this Officer in the Command Structure. They will also decide who will be the chosen for a commanding position. The Khan and saKhans will pick the right warrior for this position. Our Current Galaxy Commander is Matt Fletcher. | |
| saKhan CHH9 |
|
| The saKhan is an elected position that we will vote on should the need arise, and is responsible for assisting the Galaxy Commander and Khan to make sure Military Operations run smoothly and in a timely fashion. Our current saKhans are Dark DeLaurel and Barbok Lassenerra. They have no honour points since they are a elected position. (for the statistic he/she can earn honour points). | |
| Khan CHH9 |
|
| The Khan is responsible for aspects of unit life. He is generally concerned with treaties, tactics, and the like, but also dictates unit policy, and directs the other Officers under his command. Our current Khan is Istari Ravenwater They have no honour points since they are a elected position. (for the statistic he/she can earn honour points). | |
You are able to pilot any of the `Mechs in MechWarrior4: Mercenaries with the exception of an Assault Chassis, we are Clan, so you will use a Clan `Mech, but pure tech rules will be enforced. This means that if you are piloting say a Timberwolf which is a Clan `Mech you must keep Clan weapons on it, so no Light Gauss would be on this `Mech, the Blooding Officers are being held to the same restrictions also.
The following variables will be enforced
| No Respawn | |
| Time | 60 Minutes |
| Weather | Off |
| Time of Day | Day |
| Visibility | Default |
| Radar | Normal |
If you feel you have a bad connection, you must inform the Officers during the first minute of the Trial, during the battle. ONCE THE BATTLE IS OVER, IT IS OVER. All results are final.
This is the trial that decides your fate in the Clan Colt. By this we mean that if you pass you are a blooded warrior and able to fight in league battles, if you fail you go back to the Sibko to train until you are able to win the Trial. Before you are allowed to drop in a Trial of Entrance the Stablemaster has to inform the saKhans and Khan that you are cleared for the Trial.
In your Trial of Entrance you will face three Blooding Officers on a map you chose before the Trial, the reason why you choose the map before your Trial is because you pick the drop zone also Colt so make sure your choice is a good one (but all Arena maps are NOT available for this Trial). One Blooding Officer will be in a Heavy Mech with 60 or 65 tons, one Blooding Officer will be in a Heavy Mech and one Blooding Officer will be in an Assault Mech. The Blooding Officers first and then the Colt will declare before the drop which mech chassis they will use !
When you enter battle, you will be given time to ready yourself. DO NOT move your Mech until you are ready. DO NOT take a single step until you have called out your first opponent. If you move before doing this, you will initiate the Trial against all three `Mechs, signal you are ready by calling out your first opponent. You can pick any of the three Blooding Officers.
Also take note of the following
If you beat the first Blooding Officer you will become a MechWarrior in the
Clan, if you go on to fight the second or the third Blooding Officer and win you will gain
the rank a higher rank. BUT if you go on to fight the
second Blooding Officer and loose you will lose the higher rank and stay a Colt, if you go on to fight the third Blooding Officer and
loose you will lose the higher rank and even the lower rank
of MechWarrior and you will still remain a Colt. So make sure you are ready to
continue on before calling the next Blooding Officer in your Trial.
Note : To pass the Trial you need to survive the
whole trial !
The archieved points and ranks you will find in the "Honour points" section !
Once the Trial is completed successfully you are able to put your rank on immediately after the Trial, the Blooding Officers email the results to the saKhans and Khan for verification on the rank. Now you are also able to pilot Light and Medium Class `Mechs in to league play (Weight Class I) until you qualify for the Weight Class II (Heavy `Mechs) and Weight Class III (Assault `Mechs).
If we are short blooded Warriors at a league battle but have some Colts there also, you may be asked to drop if the Stable master and/or your sponsor agree to let you drop. In the event of this happing you will do exactly as told while in the drop, if you are able to show good skill and able to take commands you will get the rank of MechWarrior. Killing an enemy `Mech is not required for this, showing a good attitude, the skills needed to pilot a `Mech and being able to follow orders is what determines if you become a MechWarrior. In the event you do not become a MechWarrior from the battle drop, but were still showing skills in the areas mentioned, you may be asked to join another drop or take the Standard Trial of Entrance. If your attitude is not good during the drop then you will be removed from the Clan, there will be no second chances as poor attitude in battle will only cause future problems.
These Trials are designed to allow Warriors to pilot heavier `Mechs in to battle. If a Warrior passes their Weight Class Trial, they are allowed to start fighting in that class of `Mechs. The Trials are setup as a one on one battle, as there is no true way to test something like this as a team battle. You gain no honour points for taking the Weight Class Trial, as this is only to serve to allow you to pilot heavier `Mechs in to battle. In order to qualify for the Weight Class Trial you will need to gain a certain amount of honour points and battle expierence. There two way to pass these Trials. The keshik will inform you if you will passed this Trial automatically or if you have to fight for it. If you have to fight for it, then you will face one Blooding Officer in the same weight class. There is no need to win this Trial, the Officer will just watch your performance and afterwards the Officer will inform you if you have pass it or not. Every warrior who wants to pass its Trail has to contact the keshik at first, when they accomplish the requirements.
In this Trial, you will be facing a Blooding Officer that is piloting a `Mech of the same Class. The map is chosen by the Blooding Officer, visibility and radar will be set to normal. You are not required to beat the Blooding officer in this Trial, you are required though to show skill piloting a `Mech of this weight class. If you defeat the Blooding Officer you automatically pass this Trial, but if you do not defeat the Blooding Officer yet you showed the Blooding Officer you were able to pilot the `Mech with skill you still pass. A failure would be if you did not score any hits on the Blooding Officer, or showed no change in tactics through out the whole Trial, so in the end you need to make sure you are confident in piloting a `Mech in this weight class.

These Trials are setup to get Warriors to stay active within the Clan, and also to allow them to hone their skills against others in the Clan. They also serve as another way for Warriors to earn Honour points that enable rank advancement, and allow for eligibility to partake in Weight Class Trials. Warriors issuing and partaking of ToHs are restricted to use the `Mech Weight class they have tested out in. Visibility, Radar, and the map are to be agreed upon by everyone who is in the Trial, the time for the Trial is a set 60 minutes no more and no less. `Mech load outs are to be of a Pure Technology configuration, this is because the leagues we play in require us to fight Pure Tech so in turn we require all of our Warriors to practice and Trial in Pure Tech configurations. Each Trial has a set number of times they can be done per week, a week starting on Monday and ending on the following Sunday evening, at which point all Warriors are reset for the number of Trials they can participate in. The winner of the Trial is the one who needs to fill out the proper form on the home page, this form submits the information to the Khan and saKhan. Only blooded Warriors are able to participate in Trials of Honour.
This Trial is designed to allow Warriors to work on their teamwork skills, as well all know any Clan that fights as a cohesive unit will last forever in battle, but any Clan that fights as individuals will fall fast and hard and never be the wiser on why they did. So this Trial will let any Warriors with free time work on their team skills and reward them for winning. The Trial does not need to be held with the same Warriors each time, and is actually preferred that the teams change, thus allowing everyone to work with everyone. This Trial is done with the Team Destruction game type in MechWarrior4: Mercenaries, this way there is no doubt about which team won since it is based strictly upon kills rather then points. Warriors are able to issue/partake in 2 team Trials per week.
In this Trial you will fight against 2 or 3 more Warriors in what is considered open combat. The game type for this Trial is Battle, this is because the winner is dictated by the amount of points scored. The reason behind this is to make sure everyone is fighting and one lone Warrior does not sit off to the side until everyone else is critical and comes in and makes the final "kill" shots on the critical Warriors thus getting the most kills. Every Warrior will drop in to the map in their `Mech of choice (keeping within their Weight Class), and one Warrior will call the "GO" once everyone has signalled they are "ready" to fight and at their spawn point, before the "GO" is called no one is allowed to move their torso from the center marks to gain the "first shot" after the "GO" is called. The winner of this Trial is the one with the most points at the end, the Warrior in second place is the one with the second most points and so on. Warriors are able to issue/partake in 4 Free For All Trials per week.
This Trial is setup so only 2 Warriors fight each other in one on one combat. The game type for the Duel is Team Destruction, this allows the Warriors to start at a healthy distance away from each other allowing the use of a variety of tactics to be employed. This style of Trial allows Warriors to work on their one on one skills, as some times in a league drop it just may come down to this, so it is always good to keep up on this skill. Warriors are able to issue/partake in 4 Duels per week.
This Trial is setup between individual Star Commanders/Captains or higher, the goal is to promote team work in the Star. The reason for this is when ever possible whole Stars will be dropped as one in to a league drop so the better Stars can work with each other the better off that Star is. When a new quarter (three months period)will start every Starcommander can challenge another star. The first challenge will be accepted and fought. This also gives the Star Commander/Captains a chance to work on their scheduling skills, as it takes a fair amount of skill to arrange something like this between Warriors that are all across the globe. In the scheduling of the Trial the Khan and saKhan will inform the Star Commanders /Captains which day the keshik will await this trial. The Star Commander/Captain will notify the keshik about the readiness of their Star. This gives the Khan and saKhan needed information on which Stars are practicing more and which ones will need more practice. If on the day of the Trial, one Star can not be filled in then members of the Command Star are able to fill in the empty slots, with no more than two being used in either Star. Even the Command Star can use substitutes from other not involved stars. The maximum of used substitutes must be even with star you will fight against.
The game type will be Team Battle, and will be a best of 3 match up, the winner of 2 drops will win the Trial. After each drop the Stars and adjust their forces. This will reflect the combat situations you will facing in the battles. With each team only being able to use 300 tons total. Each Warrior is still restricted to their current Weight Class, so this will allow the use of some Assault `Mechs but still keep them in very limited numbers in the Trial. The Starcommanders have to agree to one map, but the challenged Starcommander can pick the dropzone first. This Trial must be scheduled once every three months, this is our only Trial that is required to be done.
For a Trial of Position to take place, the challenger must have more Honour points than the Warrior they are challenging and the Khan and saKhan must be notified about this Trial. The Warrior that is challenged may choose the map, visibility, and drop zone, the game type will be Team Destruction with a time limit of 60 minutes Warriors are also restricted to using `Mechs in their current Weight Class, the only other restriction is there is no missiles allowed. If the challenged Warrior losses then they will lose their current rank (down to the rank below their current), if the challenger losses then they will stay their current rank but lose 10% of their current honour points. The Trial is to be resided over by the Khan or saKhan, this is because of the event of a "tie" (double kill or a kill then suicide) they will be required to make a call on who won the Trial, their ruling is final no over-turning is allowed/can be done.
This Trial is held by the Bloodname House leader, and will follow the rules that they outline for the Trial. If it is a Trial for a open Bloodname (one with no leader) then the Trial will be fought according to the Trial of Position rules. Trials for an open Bloodname are sanctioned by the Khan and saKhan, and by no one else.
While in Clan Hell's Horses, one of the most important things that we track is your codex. This reflects any battles you have been in, along with what battle ribbons you have earned along with the amount of honour points you have gained while in the Clan. Honour points are sent out each month in Microsoft Excel format, and are also posted in the codex section of our home page. The Keshik does advise that you track your honour points also, just in case of any mistakes that may happen. Below is a listing of the amount of honour points Warriors in the Clan get for various Trials.
When the colt beat the following mech :
| Weight | Honour points | Rank |
| Heavy 60-65 t | +90 | Mechwarrior |
| Heavy | +120 | Mechwarrior |
| Assault | +190 | 1. Mechwarrior |
| Two mechs | +290 | Elite Mechwarrior |
| All | +390 | Lt. Starcommander |
To figure out the amount of honour points gained for various team Trials please use the following formula, total amount of honour points of all Warriors divided by the number of Warriors multiplied by 10% gives you the amount of honour points per Warrior on the winning team in the Trial. Example: Warrior A 100, Warrior B 150, Warrior C 300, Warrior D 200, this gives you 750 points total. So the formula would look like 750/4=187*10%=18 so each Warrior on the winning team would get 18 honour points each. The winning points are limited to a maximum of 60 points !
To figure out the amount of honour points gained for a Free For All Trial please use the following formulas, most points gained in the Trial use this formula total points of the defeated Warriors multiplied by 4% gives you the amount of honour points the Winner gets. Example: Warrior A defeats Warrior B who has 100 honour points and Warrior C who has 80 honour points, this would give 180*4%=7 points for the winner. For second place use this formula total points of the last defeated Warrior multiplied by 4%. Example: Warrior A defeats Warrior B who has 100 honour points and Warrior C who has 80 honour points, since Warrior C is in last place you would use 80*4%=3 points gained for the Warrior in second place. Only the first and the second place will gain honour. The winning points are limited to a maximum of 60 points !
To figure out the amount of honour points gained in a Duel Trial of Honour all you do is take 5% of the total amount of honour points of the Warrior who lost. Example: Warrior A defeats Warrior B who had 100 honour points Warrior A would get 5 honour points for the win. The winning points are limited to a maximum of 60 points !
Losing points in each Trial (Team/Star/FFA/Duel)
Each loosing participant in a Trial will loss a certain amount of
honourpoints. It is a dynamic system to reflect the difficulty against lower and
higher ranked warriors in the Trial.
The basic for the loss is 5 % of the loser honourpoints.
This will be modified as you can see below :
The formula is : Loser honourpoints- winner honourpoints = Modification of the basic 5 %
| from 1000 | + 4 % |
| from 500 | + 2 % |
| 0 | + 0 % |
| from -500 | - 2 % |
| from -1000 | - 4 % |
Example 1 (Duel / Team) : Warrior A has 500 honourpoints, warrior B has 300
"A" will win, so the loss of honour for
"B" will be : 5 % from 300 points = 15 points
300-500 = -200, so see above the modification will be 0 % of the basic 5 %, so
the loss will be 5 %
Example 2 (Duel / Team) : "A" has 1200 points, "B" has 650
"A" will win , loss will be : 3 % of 650 =
19,5 rounded to 20 points
650-1200 = -550, so modification will be -2 % of the basic 5 %, so the loss will
be 3 %
Example 3 (FFA) : "A" has 1200,
"B" has 700, "C" has 900 and "D" has 500
Trial result is : A,B,C,D so A and B will earn honour and C,D will loss honour.
C will loss 5 %
Average of A and B = 1200+700 = 1900/2 = 950
900-950 = -50, so modification will be 0 %, so the loss will be the basic 5 %
D will loss 5 % too
Average of A and B = 950
500-950 = -450, so modification will be 0 %, so the loss will be the basic 5 %
The maximum loss will be limited of the maximum gain of honourpoints of the winner !
There are many ways to earn points during a league battle and they are as follows:
| Staying at the battle | 3 Points per drop |
| Be in a drop during battle | 2 Points |
| Staying for the complete battle (more than one drop, Raids/Recons do not count) | 10 Points |
| Destroying an enemy `Mech (Counted on a per team basis) | 2 Points |
There is only one way to lose honour points during a league battle and that is if you lose a `Mech (counted on a team basis) you would lose 2 points.
Participating at a battle gains you 1 battle ribbon, this is not done on a per drop basis but given out for the whole battle.
These are given out to Warriors who show skill during battle, each award is given out for different circumstances.
| Award | Holder | Why |
| Medal of Durability | Jagger | Showed up nearly every battle |
| Medal of Tactical Superiority | Matt Fletcher | Battle preparations and tactics |
| Medal of Sure Killshot | Jagger | Average kill ratio in drops |
| Medal of Sure Killshot | Meatsheild | Average kill ratio in drops |
This is awarded for having 5 consecutive drops in battle without losing your `Mech.
This is awarded for having 10 consecutive drops in battle without losing your `Mech.
A Bloodname is the highest honour in any Clan. Bloodnames are the only other major title that are fought for in our Clan, the other being a Trial of Position. Each Bloodname has a house leader and they dictate when there is a Bloodname Trial for their name. Bloodnamed Warriors are Warriors who have shown exceptional skill in the Clan, but also show exceptional skill in dealing with others in the Clan. They are both diplomats and Warriors because of this the Trials are both fierce but the house leader also makes sure the participating Warriors are able to act responsibly and with honour. Below you will find the list of our Bloodnames and of the Warriors who hold them. Respect them to do anything less would be a dishonour to them and yourself.
| Bloodname | House Leader |
|---|---|
| Amirault (tainted) | Open |
| Cobb | Trooper |
| DeLaurel | Dark |
| Fletcher | Matt |
| Lassenerra | Barbok |
| Mitchell | Deathjoker |
| Ravenwater | Istari |
Once again welcome to the Clan Colt.
